Hi,
Since you have 10+ years of work experience you need to focus on schools where average work experience is on higher side (6+ years)
You can target B-Schools like IIM A, B and C, ISB, INSEAD, IMD, HEC PARIS, Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester. These schools will be best fit for you.
You can also try our B-School Selector tool by clicking here http://www.genedmba.com/b-school-selector/?key=gqadQ5XKeK

Research MBA Programs :: Low Quant, High Verbal...and Econ Background - Research MBA Programs

Author: blahblahblah42
Subject: Low Quant, High Verbal...and Econ Background
Posted: Thu Nov 22, 2018 5:28 pm (GMT -8)

Hi! This is another low quant/high verbal post, but with an educational component that I haven't seen posted often.

I had a 44V (98%)/39Q (35%)/680 Total on the GMAT, which I know isn't good. I don't think that more practice will result in a higher score. I've had trouble with timing and being flustered throughout my practice and on the exam. However, I do have a master's from a top 10 school that required quite a lot of math (economics, econometrics, finance), and did ok (3.67 GPA in quant classes). Ironically, I satisfied the requirements for the quantitative methods specialization. I also passed the CFA Level I exam on my first try. My first job out of school was also quantitative, which one of my recommendations will address.

I plan to concentration in operations. I'm having trouble knowing where I will be competitive and am wondering if programs ranked in the 15-50 range are out of reach. I'm thinking UT Austin, Emory, Vanderbilt and University of Washington on the high end.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Nanyang Vs NUS: A Detailed Factual Analysis by GyanOne

MBA in Singapore has gained prominence in the last couple of years. While world-class education is definitely a big pull, the multi-cultural environment (UNESCO ranks it as the 6th best student city) and the employability after the completion of the course makes this place extremely popular. NUS vs NTU: While the two major management schools in Singapore- National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) offer excellent MBA programs, their courses differ on several aspects. This here is an attempt to differentiate between the courses and give you a snapshot of each of the courses.

NUS vs NTU
Class Profile

NTU- If you look at the Nanyang MBA and the class profile, the students typically come with an average of 6 years work experience and the average age of the students is 28. With a class size of about 80-100, 40% of the group constitutes women and 88% are international students coming from over 20 countries around the world. The number of students also vary depending on the course you.....READ MORE

Now that I am in Singapore, I came across the part time MBA options from NUS and NTU (PMBA), the courses/degree are exactly the same and both colleges claim to have the same opportunities for networking.

Since I work in consumer goods consulting, my post MBA dream is to get into brand management role for a FMCG giant. Do you think a part time MBA from one of these colleges will help me achieve this?

Another reason I am not keen on a full time MBA is that I have spoken to a few Indian recent alumni’s from both colleges and the salaries they get after the full time MBA are not very different to what I have. So if I go for a full time programme the opportunity cost is going to be huge and at the end the salary return would be lower.

So my thought process here is to continue my job and go for a part time MBA. This will help me gain more experience in the SG market which could be helpful 2 years from now when I also complete my MBA.

Could you please guide me here?
Hi Raunak,
You have solid international experience and at right stage of your career when people plan to shift their career and move up the career ladder. Good to know that you are planning for MBA but in your case it makes sense to go for full time MBA, since part time MBA is suitable for people with more than 10+ years of work experience. If you plan to shift your career and move into brand management then going for full time MBA from good ranked schools will be a better option. Full time MBA programs will be offering dedicated career support centers and placement assistance which you might not get in part time MBA program, most of the applicants for part time MBA are company sponsored. Suggest you to consider full time MBA programs.

Having an MBA previously can make things a bit tricky-- it is often best to check by program to see if they will allow another MBA-- many do but some don't. Hard to say what your chances are -- but about 10% of Indians getting an MBA at INSEAD are getting a second MBA so that is certainly a known route there-- having a 700 GMAT might not be enough-- would help to have a bit higher-- and then also to have some impressive work accomplishments. We have successfully coached many candidates to good results at INSEAD-- if you want to do a sales consult to learn more how we can help, I recommend you go to this link to sign up: https://stratusadmissionscounseling.com/consult/

ISB MFAB Program Review - Things You Should Definitely Know

Keshav Aggarwal, now an ISB MFAB student, is a graduate from London School of Economics and joined his family business right after his graduation. He took ownership of complete operations of the manufacturing plant, focusing on introducing new technologies and methodologies to improve the product and process quality. On this journey, with several plant improvements and initiatives to his credit, he realized the need to get formal education in family business and entreprenuership. Then is when ISB MFAB happened, and here is his take and insights into the program for all you MFAB aspirants!

Why did you select the ISB MFAB program?
After working for 7 years in my family business, I did not want to take a break of 1 year and go for a regular MBA program. In my view, if I did a regular MBA I would not have been that successful at applying my skills (what I would have learned) to my business.....READ MORE

Research MBA Programs :: Selecting the MBA programs that are right for you - Research MBA Programs

Author: Michelle@ARINGO
Subject: Selecting the MBA programs that are right for you
Posted: Sun Jul 15, 2018 12:37 am (GMT -8)

Here are a few parameters that can help you select the most appropriate MBA programs for you. Ask yourself some questions like:
1. Which schools are known for the area I want to specialize in? Most schools have a few fields they’re renowned for.
2. Where do you envision yourself working post-MBA? Make a list, and as you check out a program, see which companies recruit there.
3. Are you heading off to your MBA accompanied by family? Do you enjoy large cities? Or do you prefer smaller university towns? Do you like a certain weather climate?
4. And finally school atmosphere – speak to students and alumni to get a feeling of what it would be like to study at this school.

For more tips on selecting schools, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOBwhpTFvnM
