Purpose

  • Responsible for developing and managing the Company’s treasury department and daily treasury operations. In this capacity, this position must demonstrate and apply internally and externally recognized technical expertise.
  • Requires the position to regularly and effectively analyze, evaluate and address certain undefined and variable situations that could impede the Company’s ability to achieve its general financial objectives. 
  • Accountable for preparing materials to support communication to Senior Management on matters relating to managing and mitigating the Company’s global portfolio of financial risk exposures as they impact the Corporation’s value drives and key performance metrics resulting from market volatility associated with foreign exchange, interest rate and commodity price movements. Responsible for developing strategies to reduce volatility associated with commodity and currency risks.  Responsible for developing and leading the credit function and maintaining an appropriate risk profile.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Company’s treasury activities and operations are managed in accordance with best practices and in a Sarbanes Oxley compliant manner.  In this capacity, the position is responsible for supporting the Company’s efforts in raising capital, designing and implementing the optimal capital structure of the firm, managing the Company’s cash positions to ensure sufficient liquidity, and evaluating and managing financial risks.
  • Required to development, implement and oversee corporate financial policies and procedures designed to anticipate potential capital and financial markets activities and their impacts on the Company’s funding and investment decisions while incorporating risk and uncertainty into the analytical framework of the associated corporate financial decision-making process.
  • Responsible for Company’s travel department and implementing policies and procedures to support its success.

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for supporting Company’s financing and investment programs in conjunction/coordination with the corporation’s Vice President/Treasurer.
    • Work closely with the Vice President/Treasurer to secure corporate financing and funding in consideration of the Company’s liquidity requirements and its longer-term investment and business objectives.  This position is responsible for coordinating key aspects of the development, negotiation and documentation of the Company’s financial and capital markets transaction. 
    • Responsible for working with the Company’s Vice President/Treasurer in supporting the Company’s investment committee decisions regarding retirement plans and managing related trustees and external investment consultants and asset managers. 
    • Responsible for participating on and supporting project teams assembled to coordinate major merger and acquisition transactions.
  • Accountable for maintaining effective relationships with commercial bankers, investment bankers, financial advisors and commodity dealers.
    • Responsible for maintaining direct relationships with financial institutions in a manner that facilitates open discussion of potential financing structures and terms of financing available in the capital markets. 
    • Responsible for independently monitoring the commodity, derivative and capital markets in order to ensure that the structure and terms of potential financing transactions are competitive and appropriate relative to current market conditions and practices.
    • Supports negotiation and maintenance of committed revolving credit facility
  • Responsible for overseeing the management and administration of the Company’s metal sales transactions and cash balances and investment activities. 
    • Oversee the administration of staff and systems designed to effectively forecast and manage the Company’s consolidated cash flow and investment balances and requirements.
  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all debt covenants and related requirements.
    • Oversee the development, maintenance and administration of the Company’s debt compliance and reporting staff and systems in order to ensure the timely compliance of all debt capital and financial markets documentation.

Training & Experience

  • An advanced degree in Finance or an MBA or MS degree with an emphasis in Finance and ten or more years of financial experience are preferable.
  • Experience should include exposure to a broad range of activities in treasury, accounting, planning and other finance positions.
  • Possess a strong understanding of financial theory and products, and demonstrate the ability to interact and negotiate face-to-face with representatives of the financial and/or investment community on a regular basis.
  • Possess a clear understanding of financial statements, the treatment of consolidated financial statements, accounting for leases, currency translation, options and futures impacts. 
  • Possess a clear understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) as they are used to restate and compare financial statements for differences between companies, assess the impact of various financial transactions, and how to effectively evaluate a firms' financial performance.
  • Extensive experience in the application of spreadsheets and databases systems as applied to construct financial models for use in the areas of corporate finance, investments, and financial markets transactions, including the use of simulation and optimization models and software packages to assess risk profiles and exposures.

Working Conditions

  • The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
  • Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.
