Purpose

 

At the intersection of finance, marketing and corporate governance, Investor Relations provides a unique snapshot into Newmont’s culture, operations, and financial performance. The primary goal of Investor Relations is to enable effective communication between Newmont’s executive leadership team and key market participants including shareholders and investment banks. The work is dynamic and fast paced. As an intern, you will assist in the development of the company’s strategic investor messaging and support the dissemination of information to the broader finance community.

Possible Duties:

  • Conduct market research and analysis in preparation for quarterly earnings process
  • Draft weekly and quarterly market intelligence and performance reports for broad internal distribution
  • Manage quality control checks to ensure data accuracy and support documentation of processes
  • Contribute to the preparation of PowerPoint presentations for use at external investor meetings
  • Support the creation of presentations to senior management
  • Fulfill investor-specific data requests and participate in ad-hoc projects for senior personnel
  • Assist with investor targeting and enhance overall capabilities of Investor Relations outreach function
  • Support the management and distribution of Investor Relations content on Newmont’s intranet
  • Contribute to advancement of Newmont’s Investor Relations section of external website

Training & Experience

 

  • MBA or MS Finance preferred; undergraduate finance students entering their senior year or students accepted to graduate school in the fall of 2019 will also be considered (3.0 GPA or above)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Bloomberg a plus
  • Understanding of financial accounting, economics and investments
  • Financial modeling and investment management experience a plus
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills

The Solution Lead - BPC provides leadership and expert technical guidance in the process of defining, implementing and supporting the Business Planning and Consolidation solution and processes by leveraging the offshore business services model. The position plans and leads the analysis, estimation, solution design, quality reviews, and standards for the Newmont BPC solution. Its primary accountability is for the BPC production support in tight collaboration with Accounting, Planning and the regions including the delivery of solutions to the business and Transition to Run activities with the onshore and offshore service management teams.

Essential Duties

Oversee And Manage Application Solutions

  • Oversee the execution and work product of third party contractors.
  • Plan and manage equipment and service provider resources to implement, maintain or upgrade BPC within the parameters of security, data and programming logic integrity, administration and reporting policies.
  • Manage comprehensive system testing plans and communicate the impact of system changes to the solution governance and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee all system deployments to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of IT or Process Technology resources.
  • Coordinate regular BPC maintenance and support activities with Service Provider and Business teams.
  • Establish an ongoing relationship with the software vendor to stay abreast of technology evolutions and software support issues.
  • Act as a primary contact for Priority 1 and 2 incidents and problems, including the review and approval of root cause analysis documents.
  • Participate in solution governance committee together with the business.

Solution Design, Solution Governance, Quality Reviews

  • Act as the BPC solution architect on enhancements and continuous improvement items for both Consolidation and Planning applications.
  • Protect the integrity and security of the system and data in accordance with the BPC governance committee.
  • Accountable for script logic changes. 
  • Document delivered solutions for transition to IT Operations support
  • Capture business requirements relative to BPC.
  • Supports change management, security and controls, and the provision of services and solutions necessary for business operations.
  • Devise solutions to solve complex problems considering system capacity, operational timing and desired results.
  • Ensures solutions adhere to Newmont standards relative to modifications, maintenance, updates, configurations and financial schedules.
  • Manage the BPC system landscape to establish consistency between Development, QA and Production.

  • Effectively guide and maintain BPC IT strategy and roadmaps in partnership with  business units and suppliers.

  • Support project management capability on capital projects.
  • Responsible for solving highly technical and complex problems on multiple projects, and providing consultative support to internal staff.
  • Support the Technology Roadmap activities.
  • Participate in IT financial management activities including annual budgeting cycle, project estimating, capital approval process, project budget oversight and resource time tracking.

Training & Experience

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field.
  • Excellent SAP BPC functional knowledge with both Consolidation and Planning applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of integration points to SAP ERP and BW.
  • SAP or BPC Certification is a plus.
  • CPA or MBA studies or Post-graduate are preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of practical hands on experience as BPC Developer and Designer.
  • Strong process and solution integration experience.
  • Experience interacting with an outsourced support team.
  • Hands-on experience with BPC 10.1 on HANA.
  • Desired experience with SAP S/4 HANA.
  • Completion of at least one BPC on HANA implementation is desired.

  • Mining, construction, utilities or other heavy industry experience is preferred.

  • Ensure the integrity of the configuration management system, including the CI data model and relationships.

Change & Configuration Management Process

  • Integrate operational procedures with supporting teams including service desk, cyber security, infrastructure, PMO, enterprise architecture and more.

Context
Technical Services (TS) provides global support to Newmont (NEM) and its operating businesses across a range of specialized technical functions.  TS expertise covers key resource disciplines, including Operational Technology & Innovation (OT&I), Asset Management (AM), Full Potential (FP), Supply Chain (SC) and business services. 

Within Technical Services, the SC function works collaboratively with corporate technical functions and operations to ensure the delivery of competitive, effective and efficient supply of goods and services to meet the needs of the business. It does this by focusing on proactive collaboration, “fit-for-purpose” technical and commercial strategy development and execution, competency and capability, relevant global metrics, and enabling processes and technology.

As NEM continues to expand its technical and digital footprint, it is critical that SC effectively partners with the corporate technical functions to develop and align on a new Technical Global Category Management (GCM) support model.  This model includes a wholly aligned strategic approach that represents long term intentions, strategies and guiding principles utilizing the Life Cycle Procurement & Category Management (LPCM) methodology for procurement of technical goods and services.

Purpose
The primary focus of this role is to implement and manage the GCM support model for technology and to develop the commercial, contracting, service level agreement, procurement and execution strategies in support of various complex technology projects.  This role will be responsible for setting the strategies to holistically manage and negotiate all external spend in order to optimise costs, specifications and usage while balancing service levels, risks, supplier diversity, and strategic business objectives for NEM. This role will bring expert knowledge of external supply markets and will partner with business stakeholders to define and develop strategic opportunities to improve the value of our technology and digital solutions.

The role is required to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders within NEM, most frequently at the TS, IT and SC Director and VP levels and occasionally at the CTO and COO level.  The role also engages at all levels up to the CEO within the vendor organizations. The role will work with corporate and regional stakeholders to develop and implement “fit-for-purpose” strategies for all key agreements, ensuring utilization of NEM’s Investment System, LPCM playbook and Directorate programs while meeting all SC deliverables in a timely and cost effective manner. This is a leadership role that draws on expertise as a strategic thinker, project manager, technical subject matter expert, technology industry specialist, problem solver, and facilitator.

Essential Duties

Strategy & Alignment –Engage with vendors to understand their service development strategies, plans and how NEM can best leverage them. Engage internally with various organizations within NEM to ensure strategy / technology roadmap alignment and process integration. Conduct market research on current best practices, best in class rates and external future category trends. The category manager uses benchmark information to inform the category strategy and includes a roll up into the Category Strategic Plan. Program Governance – Apply NEM’s LPCM methodology in alignment with NEM’s overarching Investment Standard and Directorate programs. Contract Management – Represent TS, OT&I, AM, IT, Legal and SC community in managing global agreements and relationships with key technology vendors and Directorate alliance partners.  This activity includes regular monitoring of updated service offerings, support capabilities, contract performance and issue escalation/resolution. The contracting and performance management strategy/support model will be scalable in support of relevant Business Plan volumes and forecasts. Value Tracking and Reporting – Develop performance indicators for improved tracking and measurement of SC deliverables in all stages of technology investments.  Possess ability to meet project schedules and costs related to contracting and execution activities; utilize the LPCM methodology and TCO approach; adherence to and align with category strategies. Supply market analysis: Understand supply market in terms of size, growth, players and trends, and potential buying power opportunities. Develop market analysis approach based on validated and innovative analysis frameworks. Goal is to assess the supply market by analyzing supplier bargaining power, buyer bargaining power, pressure from substitutes, market share distribution, supplier rankings, and entry barriers. Visit suppliers to assess operational capability, evaluate risks and roadmap. People Management: Determine development needs for the GCM team. Champion knowledge sharing across team ensuring GCM team continues to develop and consistently implement best in class tools and techniques. Practice appropriate leadership and management disciplines with indirect reports to achieve business goals. Provide active leadership and support across the regions to enable effective team performance. Negotiations:  Negotiates skillfully in situations with internal and external parties; can win concessions while maintaining relationships; can be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic. Negotiates high-value strategic contracts related to Indirect spend, with a specific focus on technology.  Lead vendor selection, pricing, T&C negotiations, and contract execution stages. Training & Experience

15+ years’ experience in Supply Chain Management with strong background in technology industry, technology goods and services procurement, contracts management, transportation & logistics and materials management processes and systems.

  •  Lead the IT organization in the continuous improvement of appropriate testing methodologies and tools that lead to improved quality, reduced number of hyper care issues and achievement of overall project goals and objectives.
  •  Play a mentorship role to project personnel, ensuring constant improvement in their project and quality assurance skills.
  •  Develop strategies to increase quality and/or  minimize time and cost incurred with project testing

Quality Delivery Program Ownership and Governance

  •  Continuous improvement to the overall Quality Delivery Program.  Manage adherence to the overall quality assurance process across an integrated application platform.
  •  Maintain and improve process and results by completing audits; investigating deployment issues; collaborating with other members IT to continuously improve methods, tools and training.
  •  Prepare management reporting by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, corrective actions, and re-validations.

Ensure Quality Delivery

  •  Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to project plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing productivity, quality, and documentation standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining process and system improvements; implementing change.
  •  Validate test quality by ensuring that project teams and operation teams are trained on the framework, processes and deliverables.
  •  Review and/or provide quality assurance input to project planning for projects.
  •  Ensure  quality assurance / testing roles and team members are trained and in place for all IT projects and enhancements.
  •  Ensure test approach, test strategy, test plans and acceptance criteria are established at the appropriate phase for each project and that test scripts are being maintained and re-used as appropriate.
  •  Ensure Infosys Managed Services teams have appropriate levels of test result reviews and approvals in place for all types of development work.
  •  Validates quality delivery processes are being followed through the use of spot checks and stage gate check points.

Training & Experience

Knowledge:

  • Prefer B.S. or B.A. in a business or computer science field, or MBA with emphasis in computer information systems.
  • Test Management or PMP certification. (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the computer information field.
  • Experience working with and managing onshore and offshore third party service provider(s) required
  • Experience  managing SAP HR Support pack test cycles a plus
  • Experience working in a global delivery model preferred. Leadership experience with a Test Center of Excellence is ideal.
  • 5+ years of test management experience in a wide variety of testing efforts, techniques, and tools; including, SAP applications, non-SAP applications and infrastructure
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the SAP implementation process using ASAP methodology and in-depth comprehension of test life cycle.
  • 4+ years experience in managing testing and defects in HP Quality Center.

Scope and Responsibilities

The internship will ideally be from January 2019 – August 2019. The exact dates are flexible depending on the student’s availability. It is assumed that the internship will be part time (12-20 hours / week) from January – May, and fulltime (40 hours/week) during the summer.  Interns will receive a stipend.  

 

The work will be designed to execute with little supervision at the Corporate Headquarters located in Greenwood Village, CO, and may include travel to one or more of Newmont’s sites.  There is ample opportunity for internal networking around the company.

 

The intern will be responsible for implementing specific Social Responsibility and External Relations projects during the course of his or her internship, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of the department. The exact projects will be determined according to the intern’s availability, interest, skills, and experience. The student may have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with other sub-functions within Sustainability and External Relations (Environment, Communications, Government Relations, and Systems & Services).

 

Possible projects include:

  • Research into multiple topics that may include: Human Rights, Indigenous Peoples, Community Development, Sustainable Development Goals, Stakeholder Engagement
  • General support to the External Relations and Social Responsibility teams for communication and/or training materials, data analyses, and reporting
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to understand industry best practices
  • Exact projects will be determined closer to the start date, and will take into account the intern’s interests and experience.

Purpose

 

Accounting provides a unique snapshot into Newmont’s culture, operations, and financial performance through governance, external and internal reporting. The primary goal of Accounting is to govern compliance with U.S GAAP standards and report results to Newmont’s executive leadership team and shareholders. The work is dynamic and fast paced and requires a keen eye for detail.  As an intern, you will help maintain compliance with U.S GAAP and develop process improvements across the department.

Essential Duties

 

Scope

The internship will ideally be from May 2018 – August 2018. The exact dates are flexible depending on the student’s availability. It is assumed that the internship will be fulltime (40 hours/week) during the summer. Interns will receive a stipend.

Interns in our Denver program have the opportunity to work at the corporate headquarters of a Fortune 500 company and get exposure to a variety of corporate departments.

 

Possible Duties:

  • Assist with testing of accounting system improvements and upgrades
  • Design and develop enhanced SharePoint site for improved regional communication
  • Document procedures for SOX related processes
  • Assist in creating PowerPoints for internal management meetings
  • Fulfill ad-hoc projects and leadership data requests

Training & Experience

 

  • MBA, MS Finance or MS Accounting students preferred (3.0 GPA or above)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate understanding of financial accounting
  • Knowledge of web-based applications a plus
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Purpose

Ensures availability, reliability, and scalability of IT Infrastructure utilizing outsourced services in accordance with the terms and conditions, service levels, and pricing provisions of the agreement between Newmont and Service Provider.

Responsible for the management and delivery of IT Infrastructure services through a third party vendor (Outsourcer) providing proactive and responsive guidance regarding best practices, escalating issues as required, and providing a link to other IT resources and services. Ensures all problems with day-to-day delivery of services are resolved in a timely manner and that the service delivered to Newmont is in line with the Service Level Agreements established and takes proactive measures to remedy the service when they are not meeting SLAs.

Provides support, work direction, management and guidance to on-site third party service managers as well as an offshore team delivering the service.

Essential Duties

  • Actively manage the operational availability and performance of services by maintaining an end to end service mapping across multiple delivery towers and driving service improvement by analyzing KPI performance / adherence
  • Oversees and supports the day-to-day operations providing a single-point-of-contact (SPOC) relating to the provision of IT Infrastructure conducting regular service reviews with Service Provider’s executive, managing Newmont’s demand requirements and supporting financial and contractual aspects of relationship. Direct contact with the Service Providers to manage processes and relationships to resolve outstanding issues or gaps.
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of Service Provider contract deliverables and obligations
  • Ensures a consolidated view of the Service Provider’s governance performance including performance management SLA and service requests and authorization consolidation and feeds to dashboard;
  • Assists in the management of offshore resources, reviews work to ensure that work is performed completely, thoroughly, accurately, and to a high standard of quality.
  • Provides support and governance for in-scope work performance and service delivery as needed.
  • Supports consolidation and delivery of governance services utilizing both internal and external capabilities and ensuring close integration with Newmont’s retained IT organization and Service Provider activities.
  • Develop budgets and forecasts for the service contract and manages the G&A portion of the global IT budget, and manages costs to meet targets.
  • Implements and manages strategic vendor management plans.
  • Develops and publishes reports to management on the vendors’ performance against service level agreements.

Training & Experience

           Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related field, MBA preferred

  • Fifteen (15) years’ experience in Enterprise scale IT Infrastructure with a focus on managing a service partner relationship and delivery structure.  .

Purpose

  • Oversees the development of ITSM strategies, identifying staff, tools and specialized support requirements as necessary to ensure that operational and ITIL support processes are working as expected to support the company

Training & Experience
